About Us
Patrick Rippee purchased Pat's Union Service, a full service auto repair/gas station, in Berkeley, California in 1978, at the age of 21. The business, located near the U.C. Berkeley campus, became very successful and grew from seven to fifteen employees. Pat's Union Service was a Union76 service station specializing in auto repair and smog inspections. Pat was a California State Smog Inspector licensed by the California State Bureau of Auto Repair.
Experience:
Certified in three categories, in 1993, Pat received Unocal's highest rating of Master Technician.
In 1996, Patrick and his wife, Marjorie Lynne, moved to Moab, Utah. His experience in auto repair led to the creation of Arches Repair Center, Inc. Patrick is currently an A.S.E. Master Technician certified in eight A.S.E. categories. He has also been a trainer with the Utah DWFS apprentice program.
Patrick believes that education is a very important part of the auto repair industry, and helps his excellent staff to stay current on all aspects of technical service by taking classes and having the latest technological equipment available.
In 2002, Arches Repair Center, Inc. was awarded AAA approval. This is the only AAA approved automotive repair shop in S.E. Utah. In receiving this approval, Pat had to achieve and exceed a significant number of stringent criteria. Typically, only one in twenty applicants receives this designation. To receive AAA approval, Arches Repair Center, Inc. had an overall 93% excellence rating from their customers during a customer survey, which is one of the highest in AAA history.
Supporting Community in Moab
Butterflies, Trees & Dreams--Nonprofit
Butterflies, Trees & Dreams is a nonprofit organization started in 2004 as is the brainchild of Patrick Rippee and his wife, Marjorie Lynne Wagner. This organization was created to help the "working poor," hard working employed local citizens whose wages barely cover basic necessities. Often they can't afford to repair their vehicles, which they need to get to work, grocery store or other errands. Since there is no public transportation in Moab or Grand County, we wanted to help!
Through Butterflies, Trees & Dreams and the generosity of our donors, we do free repairs or give free vehicles to deserving local families. We also provide assistance to those with immediate and desperate needs who have nowhere else to turn. For example, we provided glasses and contacts to a blind boy who can now see clearly for the first time in conjunction with of our local optometrist, Dr. Todd Hackney. We also paid the burial costs of a baby whose parents could not. These are just some of the instances where we could help out some of our fellow residents. Butterflies, Trees & Dreams gladly accepts donations of cash or used vehicles in good running condition. Call us today to find out how you can help and get involved!
